An annual gift to surprise valued stakeholders remains a great way to create a lasting impression.
Our long-term client PropertyGuru, South East Asia’s leading PropTech company knows this (all) too well and over the years, their annual gift became a true collector’s item.
Handpicked was pleased to be part of this co-creation once again and assisted in the design, production and shipping of the one and only Teddy Bear.
Have a look as we highlight some of the steps of this production taking place in a handpicked factory in Guangzhou, China.
Compared to previous years, this Teddy Bear was blessed with a slightly bigger head and smaller legs, adding more cuteness to the soft toy. Below are some pictures and a short video of this year’s Teddies models.
Once the bare models were finalised obviously they still needed to be dressed.
In 2017 the collector’s item was wearing a red hoodie and a pair of jeans and last year the Teddy had a white hoodie-active wear. This year the Teddy was dressed in a red company Polo-shirt.
Inspired from the actual company Polo, a custom-made design was developed for the soft-toy to match the corporate fashion style.
Extra care was taken to highlight the white details on the collar and inner-works of the button-area to match the original design. And of course the embroidery of the logo.
One of the main challenges we met at this stage was the replicating of the polo’s details in such a mini size. The white stripes can only be printed on, and due to space limitations, we were not able to layer on an additional grey stripe that was actually in the human-sized polos. Also, only one little button was possible, instead of 3! To make up for it, we chose an extra soft Plush material for the bear (instead of regular cotton) to increase the bear’s cuddly-factor!
Below is the positioning of the company name on the backside of the Polo-shirt being measured and embroidered according to the correct proportions.
During a factory visit of our team, you can see that part of the productions of soft-toys is done automatic, whereas other steps are done manually or semi-automatic.

As a finishing touch, the creative people of PropertyGuru decided that this year’s Teddies will carry a unique tin button on its chest. Since the Teddies were sent to different countries in South East Asia, each country received a distinctive tin-button colour with a custom-made text design.
After completion and final inspections, all soft toys are sorted, individually wrapped, packed and ready to leave the factory. We look forward to creating the next Teddies of 2020.. how will they look like? 🙂
